Job Description
~~Job Title: Designer
Supervisor: Drafting/Design Manager
1. Purpose of Position:
CAD design of products and equipment. Produce drawings and contribute to product and equipment design.
2. Major Responsibilities:
• Understand engineers’ concepts to design products and equipment.
• Produce accurate drawings with CAD software, including good dimensioning and tolerancing practices.
• Maintain design documentation.
• Work with suppliers to improve manufacturability.
• Work with engineers to optimize designs for performance and assembly.
3. Equipment Used:
• PC computer with AutoDesk Inventor or other design programs designated by the R&D Manager.
• Measurement equipment including but not limited to toolmaker’s microscope, high-precision digital indicators, micrometers, calipers and pin gauges.
4. Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
• Associate’s degree in engineering or technology or equivalent industrial experience.
• Experience with designing machines and/or fixtures.
• Knowledge of standard drafting practices and geometric tolerancing.
• CAD experience, including modeling.
Must be comfortable/experienced in the design of very small parts
